This four-month (November 1, 2021– February 28, 2022) rapid response action aimed at increasing awareness of COVID-19 best safety practices, and supporting local civil society organizations to distribute hygiene resources in their target constituencies.
Context
As Afghanistan is going through a challenging economic situation, many families are vulnerable to COVID-19, especially those internally displaced who had to move to the capital city of Kabul due to war in their provinces. With this in mind, Search for Common Ground – Afghanistan implemented a four-month project to support IDP camps’ residents with hygiene packages and awareness sessions about COVID-19.
Core Objectives:
- Increase awareness of COVID-19 best safety practices within the context of the current “conflict” situation.
- Provide support to local civil society organizations to distribute hygiene resources which will enable engagement in COVID-19 safety practices.
Results Achieved:
- Conflict Snapshot: A survey in the IDP camps was carried out to identify and select the beneficiaries and have a solid understanding of the project context prior to the project’s implementation.
- Creation of COVID-19 messaging: Effective COVID-19 messages were developed in the local languages to increase the public awareness of the beneficiaries regarding the COVID-19.
- Common Ground Approach (CGA) workshop: A CGA workshop was conducted for 15 male and 15 female residents of the IDP Camps.
- Provision of small grants to two local partner organizations: During the course of this project, two local organizations were engaged in the implementation of the project and received both technical and financial support from Search for Common Ground.
