Women Unite! Strengthening Women-led Social Cohesion and Accountability in Post-Election Sierra Leone

July 17, 2019

Funded by the government of Ireland, our project Women Unite! strengthens the role of women in promoting social cohesion, accountability, and inclusive decision-making in the post-election environment of Sierra Leone. This 12-month initiative targets five districts across the country and is led in partnership with three local civil society organisations, including 50/50 Group, the Institute for Governance Reform, and Budget Advocacy Network.

We selected 10 women-led CSOs and 18 women community solidarity groups to drive the activities of the project; so far, they reached more than 6,000 people in person. Through innovative media programmes (We Tumara Bambai and Atunda Ayenda), broadcasted by 30 partner radio stations, we have reached over 2,000,000 Sierra Leoneans with shows on peacebuilding, governance, accountability, and other daily community issues.
